Because I am picky: I take base protectors out of every delivery of stock and pour 500ml of water on them, wait two minutes and examine the back of each protector to confirm it's waterproof.I then wash them at 95C and tumble dry them on a cotton (hot) setting. I check for shrinkage and fading. In reality you probably won't wash/ dry as hot as this but it's nice to know that you can.Finally, I pour a glass of water on each of the washed base protectors to confirm they are waterproof after washing.
 
Why don't we have velcro or poppers on the base protectors to keep them in place?
I gave a lot of thought to putting fasteners on the mattress protector that would absolutely keep it in place. I decided against this because:1. I think velcro would get gunged up very quickly and stop working, and 2, I think even the best fitted poppers in the world could potentially detach and cause a choking hazard, and that's not a risk we're willing to accept.
